CSSS
in Partnership with
The SEAD Project™
The SEAD Project is a unique initiative that promotes inclusive educational and athletic environments by tackling systemic issues and promoting post-graduation success for at-risk students athletes.
The SEAD Project supports high schools in two ways:
A Case Management System
Diversity and Inclusion Training for Athletic Coaches
(tailored for student athletes)
Statistics
Overall a little over 7% of high school athletes (about 1 in 13) go on to play a varsity sport in college and less than 2% of high school athletes (1 in 57) go on to play at NCAA Division I schools. SEAD addresses the assistance needed for that 93-98% who will not play sports in college. It also assists the other 2-7% in maintaining success on and off the field. Together CSSS and SEAD levels the playing field for at-risk student athletes.
Objectives
Increased communication between professionals and student athletes’ support systems
Positive and trusting relationships with teammates, students, and adults
Positive behaviors, improved grades, leadership skills
Team culture that validates feelings and embraces differences
