in Partnership with

The SEAD Project

The SEAD Project is a unique initiative that promotes inclusive educational and athletic environments by tackling systemic issues and promoting post-graduation success for at-risk students athletes.

The SEAD Project supports high schools in two ways:

  • A Case Management System

  • Diversity and Inclusion Training for Athletic Coaches

    (tailored for student athletes)

Statistics

Overall a little over 7% of high school athletes (about 1 in 13) go on to play a varsity sport in college and less than 2% of high school athletes (1 in 57) go on to play at NCAA Division I schools. SEAD addresses the assistance needed for that 93-98% who will not play sports in college. It also assists the other 2-7% in maintaining success on and off the field.  Together CSSS and SEAD levels the playing field for at-risk student athletes.

Objectives

  • Increased communication between professionals and student athletes’ support systems

  • Positive and trusting relationships with teammates, students, and adults

  • Positive behaviors, improved grades, leadership skills

  • Team culture that validates feelings and embraces differences
